Rhodesian Ridgeback

The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a dog of large size, short-haired, brown (from light to dark wheat  - red). The particularity 'of this breed is the ridge on the back (ridge), formed by the hair growing in the opposite direction to the rest of the coat.
The original of 'South Africa, where he was selected as a multi-purpose dog that accompanied the settlers in the work of exploration. Tasks of this dog at the time were mainly hunting, especially big game, guard property and livestock and the protection of families and children in particular.
It should be emphasized that the Rhodesian Ridgeback is strongly tied to the family and that for no reason ought to live in solitude, separated from human companions with whom a close friend, made of loyalty, devotion and unconditional love.
Training systems must be avoided violent or coercive. The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a dog with a great temperament that does not lend itself to bear those methods. Surely more effective (and more fun for dog and handler) are methods that use as leverage the great motivation of the RR to the game, the food and the desire to collaborate with the conductor.
